How a GSTIN is built
A GSTIN (Goods & Services Tax Identification Number) is a 15-character code derived from your PAN:
- Digits 1–2 — state code.
- Characters 3–12 — the 10-character PAN of the business.
- Character 13 — entity number (how many registrations the PAN holds in that state).
- Character 14 — normally the letter ‘Z’.
- Character 15 — a checksum digit that this tool re-computes to flag typos.
